2011-12 Strategies

Capacity Building
Continue Coalition capacity building and increase the visibility of the Coalition. Recruit new members, promote active and effective collaboration and communication, and contribute to expanding asset building throughout the NW region and the state.

Income Tax and EITC
Increase access to free Federal tax preparation and electronic filing.  Link EITC outreach and tax preparation with high school family FAFSA information events.  Train human service frontline staff and case managers on the EITC and how tax filing can financially benefit clients

Financial Education
Increase access and availability to high quality financial education. Lead the Snohomish County Financial Educators Network and strategically recruit members.  Increase collaboration and effectiveness of financial educators, while improving availability and quality of offerings.  Provide topical financial education professional development trainings to frontline staff and case managers.

Public Awareness
Provide  foreclosure prevention outreach event during which HUD-certified housing counselors can assist troubled homeowners with understanding and navigating the foreclosure process.

Asset Development
Increase asset ownership among low-income families and individuals, including youth. Strengthen the Individual Development Account initiative. Actively participate in the design and implementation of Bank On North Sound and work with community agencies and Coalition members to encourage families and individuals to save and build personal wealth.
